Depending on the numbers, we go out walking up to three times a day. We work as a team and keep the numbers on each walk between 3 and 8 ususally. Apart from the fun aspect of it, it is also about excersise. A well walked dog is a happy dog.
It takes time to build up a relationship with a new dog. For this reason we spend the first week or so building up trust and establishing a dynamic with the dog. After they know who is in charge, we love to be able to let them off the lead so they can run and sniff till their hearts content. There is something really special about seeing them all having fun and we get great satisfaction in dropping them off at home knowing that it's been a job well done.
Because we pride ourselves on giving the dogs this freedom, it is important that we take them to locations that make this possible. Local parks are just too crowded to do this safely. That is why we have taken the time to find some quiet, out of the way places where there are very few people and other dogs around. This means that there are no busy roads. The chances of us encountering many people at all are slim.
Our reputation is very important to us. You will never see us standing around chatting on our phones. All of our walks are for a minimum of one hour. When the sun is shining we have been known to stay out a lot longer than that! The dogs excerise must and always does come first. Obviously each dog has diffeerent needs. Some like chasing things - balls and sticks. Some like running around sniffing things while older dogs like to plod along at their own pace. We cater for all of them. Some of them like a nice swim in the summer - this too can be arranged! We carry a 'toy box' in the van that includes chuckers and an assortment of balls. Because the dogs always have a good workout we always carry fresh water and of course a first aid kit is on hand just in case.
